The Caffeinated Chef

I found a great blog this weekend. It's perfect, it has just the right amount of "ha, ha" funny and tender, touching memories. I read his entry about the cornmelon and his words transported me back to my own childhood memories.

So, check it out: The Caffeinated Chef. You too will love it!

Jiggly

I had a great conversation with Kendal the other day. It went something like this:

I had just stepped out of the shower and was getting some underoos on when she came up to me and spanked my bum.

Then she says,

"Mom, your bum is jiggly."

"Yes," I said, "My bum is jiggly." Why try to deny the truth. It jiggles every time I walk. I am not the svelte, slim, beauty I once was in my younger years. And, I'm just lazy. So, my laziness jiggles.

Then, she goes on to say,

"It jiggles when I hit it, see?" As she spanks me again.

By this time, I'm scrambling to get dressed because I really don't need a rendition of "The ABC Song" done on my jiggly bum.

During this time, she decides to take a different tactic on my large, jiggly bum.

She says,

"Mom, your bum is big."

"Yes, it is." Why deny the obvious?

"It's so big. It's bigger than the toilet."

"Yes, it is." It does kind of spill over the sides when I sit down, so I guess it is.

"It's so big it doesn't fit on the toilet."

"You're right." It's useless to argue, she's interrupted me so many times in the bathroom that I'm sure she's the expert.

Then she giggles.

The Lucky Winners!

It's that time where I give away lots of cool stuff! Here's our lucky winners! (It seems that the overuse of exclamation points makes it so much more exciting!) I used random.org and here's what it came up with:

* One $25.00 gift certificate for vinyl.

# 5 - Congrats Chelsi! Luckily you had two entries in or you wouldn't have won anything! Email me and let me know what you'd like!

* One set of baby legs.

#11 - Congrats Tiffany! I'm not sure if you have boys or girls, so let me know and I'll get them all made up.

*One crayon roll.

#7 - Congrats T! Let me know if you'd like a boy or girl crayon roll.

*One awesome little girl skirt designed by Grand Revival Designs, made by me.

#3 - Congrats Marie! I have a few different fabric types so you can let Olivia pick what she wants.

*One batch of my awesome chocolate chip cookies.

#2 - Congrats Kevin! Let me know what kind you'd like and I'll get them made.

Thanks so much to everyone for reading and supporting me through all the craziness that is my life! You guys are awesome! I wish I had more to give away...maybe when I reach 200...in a year...

100...Is the lucky number!

It's taken me awhile, but I've done it! I've finally reached the 100 post milestone. I'm sure there's tons of you out there who reached 100 after a couple months. I like to pace myself. No reason to hurry things along when you can be mediocre and no one expects more than you posting sporadically through the month, if at all.

So, in commemoration of my reaching 100 posts I'm going to be giving away some gifts. I know, crazy huh?! You should be giving me gifts for my great accomplishment, not the other way around. I'm just awesome like that though!

I bet you're wondering what awesome things I have planned to give away. So, here you go:

* One $25.00 gift certificate for vinyl. Yep, you get to choose what you want and I'll make it for you.

* One set of baby legs. If you don't remember them, go here.

*One crayon roll. Boy or girl, you decide. If you don't remember these either just go here.

*One awesome little girl skirt designed by Grand Revival Designs, made by me. Go here for a peek.

*One batch of my awesome chocolate chip cookies. I know Marie, I still owe you a batch. You'll get yours, I promise.

So, if you want to be a big winner, here's what you need to do. Leave me a comment in the comments section telling me which gift you'd like to win. If you'd like to double your chances to win, leave a link on your blog linking to this post.

At the end of the week, I'll use the random number generator to pick the winners!

Thanks so much to everyone who's taken on the responsibility of reading what I write! You are amazing! I couldn't do it without you. Well, I'm sure I could but it just wouldn't be as fun!

February 6, 1997, I met you.

We went on a date the next day.

I dumped my boyfriend the day after that.

March 8, 1997, we were engaged!

May 30, 1997, I promised to love you forever.

"They" said it wouldn't last.

I knew it would.

Twelve, count them...

...years. And we're still here.

Here is the best place to be as long as I've got you.

My Baby is 5!

On June 3, 2004 at 12:55 pm Kendal Joanne Barney came into this world.

I look back now on that day and am so grateful things turned out the way they did. God's hand was in everything that happened.

She almost didn't make it.

And when it was all over, I prayed. So thankful that she was here and okay.

I'm grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knew her and knew how much we needed her and allowed her to be a part of our family.

Every day with our Loo is an exciting adventure.

I think my favorite memory is her running down the street screaming without a single piece of clothing on her little body.

I love how at night when we're reading she'll stick her head in that spot under my chin by my neck {kind of like a little puppy} and snuggle up really close and hug me. {It doesn't get any better than that.}

I love it when she says words wrong. A-Hurricane {Hurricane} and bunder {thunder} are a few of my favorites.

I don't correct her.

I'm grasping for more.

I need to hear those mistakes a little longer so I don't feel so sad that my baby is growing up.

She's so:

kind
loving
happy
crazy
thoughtful
dramatic
tender
sweet
stubborn
shy
{around people she doesn't know}
talkative
{at home}
snuggly
....ours....
